About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: SICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in acute care License: Active RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Stroke experience - Ventilator management - Assist with intubation/extubation - Central venous line management and placement - Foley catheter management - Tube feedings via NGT or PEG - Must pass an EKG competency exam Description: Unit has 10 beds. Patient types include respiratory failure, stroke, sepsis, renal failure, diabetes, neuro conditions (craniotomies, spinal surgery, TBI), and surgical patients (general, total joints, urology, neuro). Patient ratios are RN to patient 1:2. Charge nurse will take patient assignment. No phlebotomy on the unit. IV/VAT team available for PICC and midline placement. Resource nurse is available. Respiratory therapists on site 24/7. Clientists are in-house. Comprehensive therapy services including occupational, physical, and speech therapy. Charting system is Meditech Expanse. IV pumps used are Alaris. Medication dispensing system is Pyxis. Floating: Travelers may float to stepdown, stroke unit, and med-surg as needed. Scheduling: Weekend rotation includes every other weekend. Work schedule may consist of 4 days one week and 3 days the following week. Rotations can be 3 on/2 off or 5 on/5 off. Requests for time off are limited to 7 days and must be included in contract extension for full week requests. Only one weekend of time off may be requested per 13-week contract. Holiday Expectations: Will work 2 out of 3 major holidays. Other Notes: Scrub color is pewter. T-shirts must be gray, white, or black with monogram. Jackets must be gray or black. Badges must be worn above the waist and in full view at all times. Traveler-friendly culture. Professionalism is mandatory; no cell phone usage in patient care areas, no earbuds, and no eating at the desk.
