Job Summary: The assistant principal supports the school principal in providing leadership and guidance to create continuous improvement toward equity, excellence, and achievement for each student. Responsibilities include implementing policies, focusing resources on student growth, managing administrative functions, representing the school in community forums, supervising personnel, and supporting the principal with administrative tasks. Implement policies, procedures, and processes to provide direction and ensure compliance with mandated requirements. Focus school resources and personnel on student achievement. Manage student disciplinary policy, school schedule, after‑school programs, and personnel to enforce safety and operational efficiency. Represent the school within community forums to maintain support for educational goals. Supervise school personnel and provide professional growth and evaluation. Support the principal with administrative functions. Minimum Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Education or a related field from an accredited institution, or completion of the program before the contract start date. Valid Utah Professional Administrative/Supervisory License, or documentation from an accredited administrative prep program indicating recommendation for licensure by July 2026, or a transferable out‑of‑state license. All candidates must upload a copy of their current state administrative/supervisory license with their application materials. Three years of licensed K‑12 teaching experience. Professional communication skills: excellent written and verbal communication in English, confident speaking, empathic listening, and persuasive speaking. Preferred Qualifications Positive and inspirational leadership with a collaborative mindset for learning community stakeholders. ESL endorsement or plan to obtain one within 4 years of hire. Current Utah School Leadership License or a transferrable license from another state. Experience in Title I schools. Experience coaching teachers through growth‑evoking feedback and delivering professional development to improve student achievement. Experience supervising and evaluating personnel performance. Ability to implement policies, procedures, and processes for compliance. Experience facilitating grade‑level/content PLCs and data meetings. Knowledge of culturally competent and responsive practices for all community members. Knowledge of effective English Language Learner and Dual Language Immersion instruction, as well as gifted and talented programming. Knowledge of school budget management aligned with district policies. Experience with a school‑wide behavior management system. Experience in student leadership development and supervision of student activities. Adaptability to changing priorities. Knowledge of special education, 504 plans, and related laws. Proficiency in Spanish. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Lead and commit to equity, excellence, and achievement for all students. Collaborate with colleagues and community members; attend meetings; prepare written materials and presentations. Interact diplomatically with district staff and external entities; incorporate culturally competent strategies. Facilitate communication between personnel, administration, and the public to evaluate solutions and resolve conflicts. Provide sound judgment and advice to the community; apply critical thinking and decision‑making skills. Maintain professional workplace etiquette; uphold confidentiality and positive relationships. Supervise and evaluate performers of assigned personnel. Provide professional development and coach teachers with growth‑evoking feedback. Deliver timely constructive feedback on classroom instruction. Facilitate leadership capacity among staff. Support the principal in fostering collegial and professional relationships. Lead PLC meetings to analyze student data and implement effective practices. Analyze and interpret student achievement data for the Student Success Plan. Implement policies & processes for compliance. Lead on alternative education, youth in custody, reset programs, adult education, refugee and immigrant education, and special needs compliance. Assist in managing the school facility and budget. Ensure compliance with Utah Educational Leadership Standards. Work independently under constant deadlines; prioritize tasks. Maintain regular attendance and be available for events outside normal hours. Perform other related duties as assigned. Work Environment & Physical Demands Typical duties include sitting, walking, standing, bending, occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, and kneeling; driving an automobile. Workplace is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated. Safe use of office equipment and adherence to fire regulations are required.
