Mental Health Worker

Job Description Alvarado Parkway Institute (API) is a free‑standing psychiatric hospital located in La Mesa, California. It offers inpatient behavioral health and addiction services in a 66‑bed facility, as well as Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization programs. The Mental Health Worker position supports safe patient care under RN supervision, provides basic nursing care, and facilitates therapeutic activities. The role involves monitoring patient progress, maintaining records, and assisting with daily living activities. Key Duties and Responsibilities Monitor patients’ progress and communicate information to treatment team members. Encourage and facilitate participation in therapeutic activities and supervise patients to ensure safety and engagement in treatment. Assist patients with activities of daily living and maintain a safe, orderly, therapeutic environment. Maintain patient, program, and department documentation; perform clerical and administrative assignments to support patient care and operations. Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Preferred: Psychology, Nursing, or other healthcare‑related coursework. Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification issued by the American Heart Association. Preferred: Prior healthcare experience or CNA certification.
