It is not a teaching facility. Unit Information The unit consists of 71 beds, managing very high acuity cases and functioning at a Level I capacity. Patient care encompasses a range of critical conditions. Patient Types Multi-System Trauma (Level II) STEMI Stroke CHF (Congestive Heart Failure) COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) GI (Gastrointestinal issues) GU (Genitourinary issues) OB/GYN (Obstetrics and Gynecology) Pediatrics Psychiatric Patient Ratios Emergency Room: 1:4 Medical-Surgical Holds: 1:5 ICU Holds: 1:3 Required Certifications BLS (Basic Life Support) ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Secure/CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) Skills Required Trach care Ventilator care ICU drip care and maintenance Chest tube management Arterial line management Central venous line management (CVL) PICC line placement Midline insertion Port access and care Foley catheterization Application and care of splints/orthopedic devices BiPAP/Hi-Flow therapy Continuous bladder irrigation Support on the Unit The unit includes a range of support staff: CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) - Ratio 1:12 Receptionist/HUC available Phlebotomy services available until 0300 IV/VAT team Hospitalist team No telemetry monitoring tech available Technology and Equipment EMR (Electronic Medical Record): Cerner IV Pumps: Plum 360 Medication Dispensing: Omnicell Monitors: Spacelabs Orientation New travelers will complete 24 hours of classroom time followed by 24 hours of hands-on orientation within the unit. Rehires may have orientation time adjusted based on their previous engagement with the facility. Scheduling Details Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend or four weekend days per month, depending on block scheduling No on-call shifts required Holiday Expectations Staff are expected to work one major holiday and one minor holiday each season, as per policy guidelines. Specific blackout dates will apply during high-demand periods.
