Workers Compensation Defense Attorney (Part-Time) Los Angeles County, CA, USA California, USA The Hanover’s Staff Counsel team is excited to add a California‑licensed Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney to our growing practice. This part‑time role offers true flexibility—remote, hybrid, or in‑office—with in‑person Board appearances as needed. Position Overview Investigates and manages Workers’ Compensation cases from inception until conclusion through dismissal, settlement, or trial. Works with adjusters and clients to resolve claims expeditiously and efficiently. Responsibilities Handle a caseload of Workers’ Compensation cases. Meet with clients and claims professionals to resolve cases cost‑effectively. Answer and develop theories and affirmative defenses. Engage in routine motion practice, discovery, and research. Handle routine depositions, hearings, conferences, and trials. Travel to the boards as required. Qualifications Experience handling workers' compensation matters. Valid driver’s license, acceptable MVR, and ability to maintain confidentiality. Admitted to the bar and licensed to practice law in the jurisdictions assigned. Strong advocacy skills to assist, defend, or plead on behalf of others. Excellent communication skills to translate legal language into layman's terms. Organizational skills to prioritize work and maximize productivity. Desired Skills & Experience Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Word, Lexis/Westlaw, and email/calendar management. Ability to work in a team environment with attorneys, adjusters, and other claims professionals. Strong investigative skills to follow evidence step by step. Advanced legal research skills to locate and interpret cases, statutes, and laws. Courtroom skills with appropriate decorum and familiarity with court rules.
