Job Description Job Title : artWorks Supervisor Department : artWorks Job Classification : Exempt Reports To : artWorks Manager Pay Range Minimum: $48,000.00 Midpoint: $55,000.00 Maximum: $64,321.00 Job Summary The artWorks Supervisor provides direct oversight to the artWorks program, supervises staff and volunteers, and creates a person-centered and safe environment for the artWorks enterprise. The position involves exposing clients to a variety of art media and facilitating the creation of art for sale, training staff and volunteers to work effectively with artists, ensuring cleanliness and maintenance of supplies, and communicating with the artWorks Manager as needed. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Provide direction to assigned artWorks staff and volunteers. Assign daily duties and lesson plans. Recommend to artWorks Manager new services and modify existing services to meet client needs. Develop and implement activities that promote community inclusion and participation, independence and/or productivity in a professional setting. Develop and implement lesson plans for both large and small instruction. Oversee resources and strategies to achieve goals and objectives. Conduct client tours, intakes, annual meetings, periodic reviews, service team meetings, and participate in person‑centered service planning for all individuals in the program. Make recommendations for hire. Orient, train and develop staff and volunteer positions under supervision. Provide feedback and conduct evaluations with direct reports. Assist with updating job descriptions as needed. Make recommendations for MRC policies or procedures for assigned areas. Inform the artWorks Manager of staff concerns, problems, issues, and failure to obtain results and take corrective action with the artWorks Manager and Human Resources as appropriate. Measure results by determining performance indicators, determining critical data, and collecting data on a predetermined basis. Work hands‑on with artists to motivate and stimulate creativity, innovation, and independent problem solving to help artists reach their highest potential in an art career path. Foster progress through positive reinforcement, modeling positive employment behaviors, and giving constructive feedback. Enable artists to be as independent and self‑sufficient as possible. Possess knowledge of current trends in art in the community. Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date progress notes. Work with customers in the storefront, greeting customers, making sales, and being responsible for monies collected as backup for retail staff. Instruct artists in proper safety, care, and use of tools and supplies. Participate in art shows and events to promote the artists’ work. Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols. Ensure that recipient rights and confidentiality are protected in accordance with agency policy and the Michigan Mental Health Code. Actively support and be knowledgeable about culturally competent, recovery‑based practices, person‑centered planning as a shared decision‑making process, and a trauma‑informed culture to aid clients in their recovery process. Provide information and assistance to staff and volunteers so they can work effectively with the clients. Ensure smooth operation of activities and communicate pertinent information and changes to artWorks Manager. Maintain ongoing communication with clients’ families and supports program coordinators regarding their progress and development. Ensure satisfaction with the services offered. Maintain the organization and storage of all supplies at the studio. Conduct regular inventories of supplies and purchase necessary supplies when needed. Work with leadership and marketing staff to promote artWorks to family members/guardians, staff, clients, and the larger community as an opportunity that strengthens artistic skills and employment skills and provides a venue to develop a vocation and earn an income. Complete incident reports as needed. Perform employee orientation, training, and development. Verify weekly clients’ attendance records. Audit progress notes on a weekly basis to ensure compliance for Medicaid, CARF, and QMR standards. Assist in problem‑solving with the artWorks Manager when space and tenant issues arise, incidents occur, and clinical discussion and strategies need to be implemented. Complete other miscellaneous duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities Excellent leadership, interpersonal, problem‑solving, planning, and organizational skills. Must have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Ability to provide artistic guidance and direction in a wide variety of art media. Must balance the mission of independence with the objective to produce artwork with market value. Human relations skills sufficient to interact effectively with customers/employers, clients, families, co‑workers, and service team members. Energy and enthusiasm to create a positive response to people with disabilities. Ability to learn and teach a variety of art techniques. Demonstrated ability and time‑management skills to perform tasks independently as assigned. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to write clinical service plans/goals and successfully interact with customers/employers, clients, families, co‑workers, and service team members. Effective problem‑solving skills with service teams and clients. Demonstrated ability to provide motivation and innovation when working with artists. Criminal records, driving, and recipient rights screening required. Valid Michigan driver’s license, good driving record, and availability of a licensed, insured vehicle for use on the job required. Education and Experience Minimum 3 years in a service industry. Minimum 3 years supervising art instruction OR a 2‑year degree and 2 years’ experience OR a 4‑year degree and 1 year experience required. Minimum High School Diploma required. One year’s supervisory experience required. Lived experiences with behavioral health and/or developmental disabilities are desired. Physical Requirements Able to squat, reach, lift, carry 45 pounds, and tolerate prolonged standing. Ability to meet intervention certification requirements. Must have visual discrimination to differentiate between colors. Work Conditions Art studio environments. May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and parasites. High sensory environment including lighting, sound, and scents. A criminal records check, recipient rights screen, and drug screen are required for this position. #J-18808-Ljbffr
