Come explore Novanta.This position is part of Novanta's Cambridge Technology business unit.Cambridge Technology designs, develops, and manufactures innovative laser beam steering solutions including galvanometer and polygon-based optical scanning components, 2-axis and 3-axis scan heads, scanning subsystems, high power scanning heads, and controlling hardware and software. Key markets include advanced industrial and electronics processes, laser-based medical procedures, and scientific applications.SummaryThe ideal candidate will be a confident and highly organized self-starter with some applications knowledge, communication and technical problem-solving skills to ensure execution of our quality standards and customer on time delivery metrics.Primary ResponsibilitiesAble to read, understand, and adhere to work instructions, BOMs, and assembly drawingsUsage of hand tools properly and safelyMechanical assembly of product within acceptable quality and output levelsSoldering of cables, wires and through hole devices within acceptable quality limitsInspect product and properly identify non-conformancesProperly operate pass/fail test equipment (ALTF, PD Test, etc.)Cleanliness and workstation clean up through 5S standardsGeneral TasksStrict compliance with the quality, occupational safety, and environmental regulations.Implementation of the instructions of the quality / environmental management representative and the occupational safety specialistRequired Experience, Education, Skills, Training and CompetenciesTeam player with strong computer, written, verbal and skillsPrevious experience with opto-electronics and PCB commodities,Working experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma environmentsFamiliar and knowledgeable with QMS standards (ie: ISO 9001)Basic knowledge and practice of ESD and 5S principlesSafety and chemical awarenessPreferred - IPC solder requirements verified (Consistently meet IPC requirements; tested per IPC610 requirements)Travel RequirementsNonePhysical RequirementsNoneCompensationThe salary for this role will range from $19 to $22 per hour based on full-time employment. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to location, relevant skills, training, experience, education, etc.Certain roles may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and/or long-term incentives.
