This job is at the Port Allen Pipe Fabrication Shop and NO PER DIEM is offered. Job Description Works a 5 am to 3:30 pm or 3:30 pm to 1:30 am shift under the direction of a foreman, measures and cuts pipe to specified length called out on sketch. Functional Requirements Read and sign off on JSA prior to starting shift. Interpret sketches, identify all grades of material listed on sketches, transfer heat numbers from pipe to sketch when required. Good math skills; ability to add and subtract dimensions and read a tape measure. Perform preventative maintenance such as greasing. Daily inspection – safety guards, leaks in hydraulic hoses, air lines, torch cutting equipment. Operate plasma and/or oxyfuel cutting equipment. Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times. Qualification Standards Must be able to work 5 am to 3:30 pm or 3:30 pm to 1:30 am shift. Preferably 1 to 2 years of experience in specified skill. MUST be able to read a tape measure. Ability to lay out and cut pipe or willingness to learn. Capable of working in a team setting. Post offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation. Job site PPE requirements – hearing protection, safety glasses, long sleeve shirt, gloves, steel toe boots, etc. Physical Involvement Climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures. Reaching, handling, and manipulating objects and materials. Coordinating eye, hand, finger movements to operate tools and equipment. Lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground, waist, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment. Standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling. Seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction. Mental Involvement Follow set procedures and standards. Apply basic mathematical skills, plan work, select proper tools. Compare and understand differences in size, shape, form of lines, figures, objects; picture and evaluate solid objects from drawings/diagrams. Use standards that can be measured or checked; judge distances and slopes accurately. Follow oral and/or written directions; read, write; recognize and report safety hazards. Work Environment Factors Location: industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shop. Mobility barriers: uneven ground, obstructed pathways, low/high elevations, confined areas. Climatic/Environmental Conditions: outdoor climate, extreme hot or cold weather, excessive humidity, rain, various noise levels, potential exposure to chemical substances. Miscellaneous Requirements Occasionally perform tasks other than normal operation as required by the company or foreman, according to job demand. Salary: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour.
