Registered Nurse (RN)

A registered professional nurse responsible for the overall care and accountability of a group of patients during a designated shift. This role involves prescribing nursing care in accordance with the nursing process, which aligns with the medical plan of care and incorporates input from patients and their families. The nurse collaborates with physicians and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care for individuals across various age groups, including neonatal, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. The position also emphasizes the importance of teaching and discharge planning as part of the comprehensive patient care plan.

Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for patient assignments during the shift.
• Prescribe nursing care based on the nursing process and medical planning.
• Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
• Incorporate patient and family education into care plans and discharge planning.
• Delegate aspects of patient care delivery based on the current clinical competence and legal scope of practice of nursing staff.

Education and Work Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
• Acute care facility experience is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor is required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification at time of hire is required.
• Competency in Dysrhythmia during Orientation is required for all departments except for Obstetrics and NICU.
• Specialized certifications such as PALS, TNCC, and others may be required based on the specific department.

Department Specific Requirements

• Critical Care Units: Completion of Critical Care Course within 1 year of hire and competency in IV Sedation within 6 months of hire is required.
• Perinatal: Neonatal Resuscitation within 6 months and Intermediate and Advanced Fetal Monitoring certifications within specified timeframes are required.
• PACU/SDS: PALS certification within 1 year and IV Sedation within 6 months of hire are required.
• Emergency Department: PALS certification at time of hire and TNCC within 1 year are required.
• Procedures Nurse Interventional Radiology: IV Sedation within 6 months of hire is required.
