While New Orleans VAMC is a walk-in clinic that is open late and after hours, patients can also book online for appointments. Offering laboratory- and on-site testing, the Center is designed to accommodate the estimated 70,000 veterans in the region. Situated on 31 acres in MidCity, the hospital sits next to the $1.1 billion University Medical Center that opened recently as the city's primary safety net and teaching hospital. Facility Address: 2400 Canal Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70483ResponsibilitiesWill provide mental health therapy, assessments, and medication management for the Substance Disorder, Inpatient, Emergency, Outpatient and Counseling Liaison psychiatry disciplines.Services shall be provided on site or virtual at any of the eight Community Based Outpatient Clinics.Will provide face-to-face or tele-med initial diagnosis, assessment, medication management, evidenced-based therapy sessions, and specialized consolations to Veterans assigned.Will provide acute, rehabilitative, and long-term treatment to Veterans.Is expected to see 15 patients per day when providing medication management for established patients during 30-minute visits.RequirementsDoctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degrees are required.Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry.Successful completion of an internship and residency program in psychiatry which has been approved by the Accreditation Counsel for Graduate Medical Education or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association. Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, it is required to have at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting (i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training).Must have no less than 2 years' experience within the last 3 years as a full-time psychiatrist. Current, full active and unrestricted license to practice medicine is required.Current certification in BLS and ACLS.
