Sleep Medicine Physician

Overview The Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) and The Ohio State University College of Medicine (OSUCOM) in Columbus, Ohio is seeking a sleep specialist to join our faculty in the Pediatric Sleep Disorder Center. Candidates should hold the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. The sleep center supports a dedicated sleep outpatient clinic, inpatient consult service, and two AASM accredited sleep laboratories with a total of 14 beds, performing roughly 3,000 polysomnographic studies annually. The multidisciplinary team includes pediatric pulmonologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, intensivists, neurologists, respiratory therapists, sleep technologists, nurses, and nurse practitioners. Responsibilities Conduct patient assessments and diagnoses of pediatric sleep disorders. Develop and implement treatment plans per established protocols. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including polysomnographic studies. Provide educational support to patients and families. Maintain accurate medical records and coordinate care with multidisciplinary team. Serve as attending clinical team for inpatient consults and outpatient sleep clinics. Participate in dedicated multidisciplinary clinics: behavioral insomnia, hypersomnia, complex obstructive sleep apnea, Prader‑Willi syndrome, positive airway pressure dependence, and polycystic ovarian syndrome. Engage in clinical, research, and academic activities within the sleep disorders center and with OSUCOM fellowships. Participate in training and education of medical students, residents, and fellows. Stay current with medical advancements and research in pediatric sleep medicine. Qualifications Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) equivalent , required. Graduate of an approved Fellowship program, if applicable, required. Licensure: Unrestricted medical license in the State of Ohio, required. Board certification or eligibility in Pediatrics, required. Board eligibility or certification in Sleep Medicine. Physical Requirements Occasionally: Bend/twist, blood and/or bodily fluids, chemicals/medications, communicable diseases/pathogens, flexing/extending neck, fumes/gases/vapors, lifting 0–10 lbs, 11–20 lbs, 21–40 lbs, loud noises, patient equipment, pushing/pulling 0–25 lbs, reaching above shoulder, squatting/kneeling. Frequently: computer skills, hand use (grasping, gripping, turning), repetitive hand/arm use, sitting, standing, walking. Continuously: audible speech, color vision, decision making, depth perception, hearing acuity, interpreting data, peripheral vision, problem solving, seeing far/near.
