Overview Exercise Physiologist - PRN, Atrium Health Perspective Health & Wellness Executive Health, Kenilworth and SouthPark Atrium Health’s Perspective Health & Wellness offers a membership-based practice focused on comprehensive well-being for adults 18 and over. This role supports patient mobilization and exercise programs within an inpatient setting, collaborating with nursing, therapy services, and other care teams. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and perform patient mobilization and exercise programs Assess patients for contraindications and readiness for mobilization and exercise by reviewing the medical record Coordinate care with nursing or therapy services as appropriate Explain the role of mobilization to patient/family, verify the order, and confirm patient identity Perform mobilization of patient and assist in adaptive positioning to maximize safety and performance Monitor patient performance and tolerance to mobility and exercise; adjust plan as medically indicated Assess and measure appropriate durable medical equipment needs Document daily treatment notes and patient/family education Notify nursing or provider of changes in condition, performance, and response to treatment Communicate patient status to nursing, clinical staff, therapy services, nurse manager, or operations manager Coordinate care with patient schedules and treatments Respond to emergency situations in a professional and prompt manner In coordination with related staff, may cross-train Education, Experience, and Licensure Bachelor’s degree in a Health/Fitness field required; Exercise Physiology degree preferred. Master’s degree preferred Exercise Specialist certified by the American College of Sports Medicine or eligible to test; ACSM-CEP or ACSM EP-C preferred Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS HCP) from AHA required Skills/Qualifications Experience in exercise assessment and programming for healthy and diseased populations, group and individual instruction, exercise prescription, and counseling on healthy lifestyles Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred 2 years of relevant experience preferred Hearing and vision adequate for communication and reading; intelligible speech and cognitive abilities to perform job duties Ability to push patients in a wheelchair or stretcher and transfer patients Ability to demonstrate appropriate exercises and activities to patients/caregivers Personal Protective Equipment usage as required (gloves, goggles, gowns, masks) due to exposure risks Our Commitment to You Advocate Health offers a comprehensive Total Rewards package including benefits and well-being programs, competitive compensation, retirement offerings, career development opportunities, and more.
