Ambulatory Clinical Education & Training Specialist (2026-0619)

Job Overview Ambulatory Clinical Education & Training Specialist – provides educational and training services to back‑office clinical staff (LPNs and Medical Assistants). The specialist collaborates with department leadership to develop and oversee orientation, onboarding, and clinical education programs. Duties include monitoring staff performance, establishing ongoing training for new workflows, guidelines, policies, and procedures, and providing feedback to clinic leadership on clinical quality, performance, and compliance. The role also involves identifying areas requiring additional training and education. Responsibilities Provide learning opportunities and facilitate the adult learning process. Onboard and orient new MA and LPN staff, including instruction on systems such as Epic. Assess learning needs and assist in developing, delivering, and implementing training, education, and targeted support. Evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of training resources and facilities as part of educational activities. Ensure employee competency through ongoing support, auditing, annual refreshers, or remediation activities in collaboration with Operations and Clinical Leadership. Create training documents and materials in partnership with other subject‑matter experts. Conduct on‑site training activities with staff and providers to support clinical operations. Lead and participate in quality efforts to promote clinical safety, standardization, and evidence‑based practices within the ambulatory clinic network. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop strategies, metrics, and processes to improve quality of care and safety. Assess clinical workflows and implement best practices that promote standardization throughout the organization. Assist in the implementation of new systems and workflows by: Identifying staff training needs and developing necessary content. Assisting the development or revision of policies and procedures to support implementation. Collaborate with Clinic Network leaders to facilitate staff training schedules. Participate in departmental process improvement projects, compliance audits, and quality monitoring. Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with all Valley ambulatory clinic network policies and procedures. Collaborate with Employee Health and Quality teams and the Clinic Manager to ensure OSHA, DOH, and Joint Commission compliance. Collaborate with Infection Prevention to ensure best infection control practices and regulatory requirements are met. Ensure educational activities align with VMC’s Mission, Vision, Values, and Goals and are based on identified needs. Serve as a clinical resource for employees, leaders, and business partners. Act as a subject‑matter expert on various committees and workgroups. Maintain record‑keeping and reporting processes for education and training. Maintain confidentiality within legal and regulatory parameters for all training situations. Collaborate with Clinic leadership to maintain readiness for all regulatory requirements. Maintain a solid understanding of regulatory requirements. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Education, Adult Learning, Healthcare Administration, or related field (preferred). Current certified Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Washington (required). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association or Red Cross accredited program (required). Minimum of three years’ experience as an MA or LPN in an ambulatory setting (required). Two years’ experience teaching adults in an ambulatory setting (preferred). Knowledge of adult learning principles and the ability to design and develop curriculum. Proficiency in using the change process and various teaching methodologies. Understanding of implementing training for Clinic Network initiatives such as CPGs, patient safety, quality, and national patient safety goals. Project management, curriculum and/or workflow development and implementation experience, with LEAN experience preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft tools. Ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities. Strong collaboration and multidisciplinary team skills.
