This is a hybrid position and allows for one day of remote work per week based on business needs. How to be Successful in the Role By learning the core business lines for each of the divisions and the available funding streams to support the business lines. Possessing critical thinking and independent judgment skills in a fast‑paced, sometimes rapidly changing, stressful emergency response environment will help you be successful. Key Responsibilities Prepare, review, and verify a variety of accounting, statistical, and narrative reports and documents. Investigate grievances involving subordinates and recommend resolutions; recommend promotional and disciplinary actions; approve leave requests and overtime; provide adequate coverage during staff absences. Review and analyze electronic and manual accounting systems and make recommendations for the development and modification of existing systems to improve procedures and ensure conformity to policy and accounting principles. Make day‑to‑day decisions relative to the accounting treatment of complex financial transactions and assist in the development and modification of accounting systems to improve procedures; propose changes in various aspects of the accounting system. Supervise and coordinate the activities of a designated work unit; determine work procedures; prepare work schedules and determine methods for expediting workflow; assign, review, and approve the work of subordinate staff. Qualifications Graduation from a four‑year college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting. Two or more years of professional accounting or auditing experience. Possession of Washington State Certification as a Certified Public Accountant is preferred. Additional education or experience may substitute for the recruiting requirements. A cover letter is required for this position. Applications without a cover letter will not be considered.
