Application Engineer

DescriptionTyler Technologies is seeking an application engineer to design, develop, and support high-performance web-based applications using our low-code platform for business process management. In this role, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions that address operational needs for government clients. The role includes responsibilities for developing new functionality and supporting existing solutions. Candidates should be comfortable solving technical challenges, writing clean and maintainable code, and collaborating across teams. A strong foundation in Java, JavaScript, and SQL is important for success.Responsibilities:Design, develop, and implement web-based applications using a low-code platform and complementary technologiesSupport existing solutions through issue investigation, debugging, maintenance, and enhancement requestsTranslate business and functional requirements into scalable application components and configurationsCollaborate with developers, business analysts, and QA engineers to deliver features, enhancements, and technical resolutionsProvide client-facing support for application configuration, troubleshooting, and ongoing improvementsPerform debugging, issue resolution, and unit testing to ensure software reliability and performanceContribute to the full development lifecycle, including planning, implementation, and post-deployment supportDocument technical details and development decisions according to internal standardsParticipate in peer code reviews and support ongoing team process improvementsCommunicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including clients and internal teams Qualifications:Must hold an Active Secret Clearance or higherProficiency in Java, JavaScript, and SQL for application developmentExperience working with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Oracle, including schema design and query optimizationUnderstanding of J2EE architecture and experience deploying applications with servers such as Tomcat, JBoss, or ApacheAbility to interpret requirements and develop application logic that aligns with platform capabilitiesExperience working with workflow or data transaction systemsFamiliarity with JSP and reporting tools such as iReportStrong written and verbal communication skills for technical and client-facing contextsAttention to detail and a focus on maintainability and long-term solution healthBachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experienceClearance Requirement: Must possess and maintain an active SECRET U.S. Government Security Clearance.Ability to obtain and maintain a higher-level clearance if required by customer or contract requirements.
