MRI Technologist

Perform MRI procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation. May be required to work flexible hours, alternate shifts, weekends, and call rotation hours per shift: 12-hour and 8-hour shifts. Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: ARRT Radiography registration required Certifications: ARRT MRI registration required, approved BLS certification required Must-Have: Graduate of an accredited radiography program

Perform MRI procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation. May be required to work flexible hours, alternate shifts, weekends, and call rotation to provide quality patient care. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, serving on committees and participating in projects as requested. Perform procedures or examinations under the order of a licensed medical practitioner for diagnostic interpretation. Prepare patients for procedures. Provide patient instruction to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. Apply principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patients, self, and others. Select and operate the magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results. Position the patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability, safety, and comfort. Immobilize patients as required for appropriate examinations. Select appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters. Perform venipuncture, start, and maintain venous access. Prepare and administer contrast media. Verify consent/screening forms. Use appropriate scripting, barriers, and identifiers. Assist the physician with interventional procedures. Practice aseptic technique and observe universal precautions. Evaluate images and data for technical quality. Manipulate and reconstruct digital data for display, ensuring proper identification is evident. Assume responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures. Use radiology information systems, complete all required records and reports, archive, and submit images for physician review and interpretation. Initiate basic life support action when necessary. Provide practical instruction to partners and students.
