Snapshot / Role Overview
We're seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer in Fremont, CA to support delivery of large commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal projects from preconstruction through closeout.
Impact
- Contribute to major commercial mechanical projects spanning HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal scopes.
- Build project engineering skills alongside experienced leadership with a clear path toward Assistant Project Manager and Project Manager.
- Help keep complex mechanical systems on schedule by managing submittals, procurement, and coordination from the office.
- Support installations that directly affect building performance across demanding commercial and institutional markets.
Responsibilities
- Process submittals, RFIs, and change orders using Procore and Bluebeam with accuracy and speed.
- Maintain procurement logs and track material deliveries and equipment lead times across HVAC and plumbing scopes.
- Assist with project schedules in Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 and document meeting minutes and action items.
- Coordinate with superintendents and subcontractors to resolve day-to-day field issues.
- Support BIM coordination reviews using Revit or Navisworks alongside the project team.
- Assist with buyout support and takeoffs during preconstruction.
- Compile as-builts, O and M manuals, and closeout documentation to meet owner requirements.
Requirements
Must-Haves
- BS in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Architectural Engineering, or a field-up background in HVAC or plumbing trades transitioning into project engineering.
- Hands-on experience or internship exposure on commercial mechanical construction projects.
- Working knowledge of Procore and Bluebeam.
- Strong written communication and documentation discipline.
Nice-to-Haves
- Prior experience at a mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, sheet metal, or piping subcontractor.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6, Revit, or Navisworks.
- Exposure to BIM coordination workflows on major construction projects.
