As a psychosocial assistant, your main role is to implement psychosocial strategies and interventions with your assigned student, working with their Head Academic Teacher, Psychosocial Teacher, Associate Teacher, and clinical team (counselor, occupational therapist, speech‑language therapist, and possibly a learning specialist). You will also receive mentorship from the Lower School Clinical Director, classroom head and associate teachers, and licensed speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, and psychologists. Responsibilities Work primarily with one assigned student to support learning, psychosocial goals, and behavioral plans. Track psychosocial and executive functioning goals and collect data to monitor progress. Collaboratively write progress reports for the student. Ensure student safety using crisis‑prevention techniques. Support other students and implement general classroom supports and routines. Provide support during recess, academic work, specials, lunch, and snack. Help student with transitions between classes and activities using timers, reminders, prompts, and praise. Implement instructional activities aligned to student learning styles and assessment alternatives when needed. Empower the student to take charge of their learning with scaffolding and modeling. Apply executive‑function knowledge in instruction and intervention. Apply executive‑function frameworks consistently in planning, support, and behavioral interventions. Collaborate with academic and clinical staff to enhance daily tasks and learning experiences. Work cooperatively with administrators, support personnel, colleagues, and parents to create a fully‑integrated student‑centered environment. Apply evidence‑based practices responsive to the intensity, complexity, and development of gifted and 2e learners. Demonstrate curiosity about the cognitive, social‑emotional, and executive profiles of gifted and 2e students. Participate in all training and staff development, including required reading. Use GSuite, specifically Google Drive. Perform other duties as assigned. Competencies Love for working with children. Desire and ability to work with students with special needs. Work Environment The job operates in a school setting on the 4th floor of the building with an elevator. The role requires regular walking to various locations and occasional travel to the Upper School campus approximately two blocks away. Physical Demands Requires continuous standing, walking, climbing, and handling items above 100 pounds; typing is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made. Position Type & Hours Full‑time, non‑exempt. Eight‑hour days, Monday‑Friday 8am‑4pm, with occasional evening or weekend hours. The school follows a ten‑month calendar.
