Description

The Patient Food Service Associate provides support to patient meal service by accurately entering menu selections, printing meal service reports, communicating with patients and nursing staff, and helping ensure diet orders, preferences, and special requests are handled timely and correctly.

Duty - Percent of Time

Enter patient menu selections accurately into nutrition software system. Print tray tickets, tallies, and production reports close to meal service time. Help identify and correct menu or tray concerns before trays leave the kitchen. - 40%

Works as a cohesive team member; communicates clearly and openly with all member of the nutrition services team and healthcare professionals to ensure the needs of the patients are met in a manner consistent with Bethany Children's Health Center's mission, vision, values and standards - 20%

Assist with school nutrition program documentation, reimbursement information. Update daily menus, specials, foodservice communication within the hospital. Print menus, cafeteria signage, and patient menu materials. - 20%

Verify each prepared tray for accuracy, including diet order, allergies, portion sizes, texture level, liquid thickness, and International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative (IDDSI) requirements before tray delivery. - 10%

Help resolve patient meal concerns quickly and professionally. Assist with department tasks during downtime as assigned by leadership. - 5%

Other duties as assigned. - 5%

Schedule

Alternating every other week pattern of: Week 1: Saturday, Sunday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Week 2: Monday, Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Qualifications

Education: - High School diploma or GED.

Experience: - 2+ years direct food service experience.

License/Certification/Credential: - Food Handlers Card or equivalent preferred.
