Field Inventory Specialist

Job Code 09010 FLSA Status Non-Exempt Job Family Field Operations Job Level T HSE Status Safety-Sensitive Job Summary The Inventory Specialist oversees and manages the handling of equipment, materials and inventory needs for the field shops of Mesa. Essential Duties Oversee the inventory use and consumption of the shop location. Ensure parts for technicians are on hand and technicians record correct part numbers to their service orders. Follow up to check the correct part numbers are consumed on work orders through NAV. Help identify critical shortages in inventory to eliminate expedited shipping and assist with supply runs. Maintain close communication with shop technicians and other inventory specialists in the location. Conduct regular inventories, identify and solve stock problems with minimal guidance. Communicate effectively with the shop and chain of command to correct problems as they arise. Act as the main point of contact for all inventory related issues including damages and warranty processes. Record any discrepancies and collaborate with peers to find solutions, covering missing inventory, incorrect part consumption, warranty, damages, and critical shortages. Provide employees with accurate information on parts being taken to technicians and outstanding consumption. Maintain positive relationships with vendors and partners in the shop and field. Identify shop technician needs, run errands, keep work areas organized, and ensure correct part numbers are consumed. Support technicians and operations in the shop and at headquarters. Stock product in stock locations, keeping a clean and organized workspace. Label all inventory item locations for easy access. Organize shop, yard, and parts to provide easy access to required items. Communicate inventory discrepancies quickly and accurately with appropriate contacts in house and at headquarters. Act as the main point of contact for all shop needs; no technician should grab inventory without the associate’s knowledge. Communicate inventory/accounting/operations related issues that may arise. Reduce paperwork-related mistakes consumed on work orders by service technicians. Perform all other duties as assigned. Employment Requirements Safety-sensitive positions require initial drug screening as a condition of employment and may be subject to random testing in accordance with company policy. Qualifications Education High School or GED Experience 1 year of previous related experience. Honorably discharged service veterans are preferred. Certifications, Licenses & Registrations Ability to obtain Crane and Forklift Certifications by the end of the probationary period; considerations for physical disability will be reviewed case-by-case. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Be approved for and hold a company credit card. Knowledge of inventory management systems and practices. Understanding of part tracking and consumption within enterprise systems such as NAV. Familiarity with warranty processes and damage reporting procedures. Knowledge of supply chain logistics, including shipping, receiving, and vendor coordination. Understanding of shop operations and technician support requirements. Skill in maintaining organized, clean, and efficient inventory and shop environments. Skill in conducting physical inventories and identifying discrepancies. Effective communication skills to coordinate with technicians, vendors, and headquarters. Problem-solving skills related to missing, damaged, or misused inventory. Attention to detail when labeling, stocking, and documenting parts and materials. Ability to accurately record, track, and verify part numbers and service order consumption. Relationship-building skills with shop staff, vendors, and operations personnel. Self-management of inventory usage and consumption with minimal supervision. Identification of critical shortages and anticipation of inventory needs to reduce delays. Central point of contact for all inventory-related matters. Maintain real-time communication and mustes when mandatory. Support both shop and field operations by ensuring accurate, timely parts availability. Proactive recognition and resolution of issues while maintaining open communication. Reduce paperwork-related errors through oversight and follow-up with technicians. Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking). Working Conditions Constant: Minimal safety hazards; general office conditions. Frequent: General maintenance shop working conditions.
