Buyer

Buyer – responsible for processing purchase orders, interacting with suppliers, organizing and analyzing data to improve margins, and ensuring that buying practices and procedures are effective. Key Responsibilities Accurately enter and process company purchase orders for consumables, plant supplies, equipment, parts, tooling, and other outsourced products. Obtain supplier acknowledgements and regularly communicate planned delivery dates and lead times with customer service and sales. Monitor inventory levels and place replenishment purchase orders with suppliers. Attend the daily production meeting and communicate planned supplier delivery dates for upcoming customer shipments. Gain and continue to learn in-depth understanding of consumables and other regularly purchased products. Negotiate and source assigned commodities to create cost savings opportunities. Interact daily with sales, customer service, and accounting to provide exceptional internal and external customer service. Qualifications Problem solving, time management, and communication skills a must. Excellent people skills and ability to work independently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel & Word) and Email. Previous purchasing experience required. Additional duties as assigned by management. Office-based role with regular communication with customers, sales, purchasing, production and logistics teams. Occasional visits to the manufacturing floor and customer visits may be required. Education and Experience BS Degree in Business with emphasis on Purchasing is desired. Previous work experience and training may be an acceptable 'equivalent' based on his/her experience. The ability to work with limited supervision and perform effectively in a team-oriented environment is a must. Three or more years purchasing experience preferred.
