Join Our Caring CommunityThe Medical Records Clerk 2 assembles and maintains patients' health information in medical records and charts. The Medical Records Clerk 2 performs varied activities and moderately complex administrative/operational/customer support assignments. Performs computations. Typically works on semi-routine assignments.The Medical Records Clerk 2 ensures all forms are properly identified, completed, and signed. Enters all necessary information into the system. Communicates with physicians and staff to clarify diagnoses or get additional information. May also assign a code to each diagnosis and procedure. Decisions are typically focus on interpretation of area/department policy and methods for completing assignments. Works within defined parameters to identify work expectations and quality standards, but has some latitude over prioritization/timing, and works under minimal direction. Follows standard policies/practices that allow for some opportunity for interpretation/deviation and/or independent discretion.Job ExpectationsReferral Processing: Be cross-trained in Referrals and able to process referrals accurately and timely.Medical Records: Send and request medical records as needed and follow up on outstanding requests.Referral Queue Support: Remain actively working the Referral queues throughout the day to support the needs of the market.Referral Coverage: When a Referral team member is out, provide coverage by working all Referral buckets assigned to that team member to help prevent backlogs.HIMS Coverage: When a HIMS team member is out, provide coverage for all HIMS responsibilities/buckets assigned to that team member.Flexibility: Be prepared to shift between HIMS duties and Referral queue support based on staffing, workload, and market needs.Teamwork & Accountability: Take ownership of assigned work, communicate concerns or barriers, and help ensure work continues to move efficiently during team member absences.The HIMS team member is expected to provide consistent support across HIMS and Referrals, remain active in the Referral queues throughout the day, and help ensure coverage and workflow continuity when team members are out.Required QualificationsLess than 3 years working knowledge of computers, or a demonstrated technical aptitudeProfessional appearance and attitudeDemonstrated organizational skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Word and ExcelThis role is part of Humana's Driver safety program and therefore requires an individual to have a valid state driver's license and proof of personal vehicle liability insurance with at least 100/300/100 limitsAn ability to quickly learn new systemsExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to travel locally (potentially overnight occasionally)Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiencesWilling to travel to Market facilitiesWilling to work in referralsAble to work in a high-volume call queuePreferred QualificationsPrior authorization experiencesPrevious healthcare or health insurance experienceFamiliarity with medical terminology and/or ICD-9 codesAdditional InformationThis position is a cross-train position. Candidates will need to work in the referrals and medical records.Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40Pay Range: $39,000 - $49,400 per yearThis job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan.
