Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. - You will respond to and investigate emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
- You will conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer, etc.
- You will perform protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts.
- You will exercise search and arrest authority, detain witnesses, apprehend suspects, interview witnesses, and collect and preserve evidence.
- You will conduct long and short-term investigations on criminal cases and analyze facts to identify suspects and develop case information for use in pressing charges and bringing suspect to trial.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- You must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- A one year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program. Must sign DA Form 5019 acknowledging both pre-appointment and periodic random drug testing requirements.
- Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Incumbent must successfully graduate from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy within 1 year, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
- Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
- Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56: Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical / psychiatric evaluation.
- Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56: Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
- Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56: Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
- The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
- You must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
- In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization. The incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty.
- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. In making this determination, the agency may consider your performance and conduct; agency needs and interests; whether your continued employment supports organizational or Government goals; and whether it promotes the efficiency of the Federal service. Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest.
