Position Overview

TRC Talent Solutions client is seeking a detail-oriented DEA Compliance Specialist to support the controlled substance compliance program for a pharmaceutical distribution organization in Durham, NC. This position is responsible for monitoring controlled substance activity, investigating suspicious ordering patterns, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with DEA, federal, state, and Board of Pharmacy regulations.

Responsibilities
-Monitor controlled substance activity and ensure compliance with DEA regulations, Title 21 CFR, and applicable state and federal requirements.
-Analyze pharmacy dispensing and ordering data to identify unusual activity, trends, or potentially suspicious controlled substance orders.
-Investigate suspicious orders based on established criteria, document findings, and complete required compliance documentation.
-Conduct internal audits to ensure controlled substance SOPs, documentation, traceability, and accountability requirements are being followed.
-Verify and audit controlled substance inventories and assist with identifying and resolving discrepancies.
-Partner with department managers to evaluate compliance with DEA and Board of Pharmacy regulations.
-Assist with regulatory investigations, inquiries, and audits by researching and providing requested information and documentation.
-Prepare, review, and audit required regulatory reports, including ARCOS, YERS, SORS, and related reporting.

Qualifications
-Bachelors degree OR Pharmacy Technician Certification with 5+ years of pharmacy technician experience required.
-Knowledge and experience with DEA regulations, specifically Title 21 CFR 1300-End.
-Strong knowledge of pharmaceuticals and controlled substances.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, including the ability to review and analyze data.
-Strong analytical, investigative, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
-Ability to interpret CFR codes, regulatory requirements, SOPs, and other compliance documentation.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across departments and communicate professionally with pharmacies and regulatory agencies.
-Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.
-Ability to independently identify issues, conduct research, and follow investigations through resolution.
-Flexibility to work scheduled evening hours and limited weekends as required
