ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains safe conditions for integral parts of the building (e.g. flooring, doors, windows, stairs, ceiling panels, bathrooms, structural classroom furniture).
Performs regularly scheduled maintenance and additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Maintenance & Operations.
Performs craftsman tasks relating to building repairs and improvements.
Maintains building and premises to be neat and clean at all times. Keeps grounds free from rubbish.
Reports to and remains at work per stated work hours.
Ensures that the building is opened/closed properly and in a timely manner.
Ensures that door and window systems are functioning properly.
Completes assigned work orders.
Plows and sands/salts sidewalks as appropriate.
Reports damage of school property immediately upon being known.
Complies with local, state and federal ordinances for storage and disposal of trash and waste.
Instructs custodians and other maintenance personnel on the proper use of hardware and building materials, hand tools, and power equipment.
Completes all District compliance training as required.
Participate in District-sponsored training programs to maintain and update knowledge, skills, certifications, and licenses as required for this position.
Effectively communicate and appropriately respond to various forms of electronic communication provided by the District.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or technical school or comparable experience.
Working knowledge of the methods, tools, mechanical equipment and techniques used in custodial work; working knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions and fire and sanitation codes.
Ability to operate various types of power and hand machinery and tools.
Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions/directives with a minimum of direction.
Ability to make repairs on mechanical equipment and to analyze and diagnose trouble/malfunctions in more complex and sophisticated mechanical equipment.
Ability to complete a variety of maintenance tasks such as, but not limited to: electrical, plumbing, and mechanical issues, general repair types of tasks, and woodworking.
Ability to establish and maintain effective and positive public, student, and co-worker relationships.
Clearance of FBI Background check required.
TB test within 90 days of hire date; Physical Exam within 90 days.

Staring hourly rate: $28.00
