Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility or Special Education, Certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), and 1+ years Orientation and Mobility Specialist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Key Qualifications:

• Current, active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) license required
• Experience working with K-12 student populations preferred
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for partnering with teachers, families, and support staff
• Up-to-date knowledge of best practices in orientation and mobility instruction

Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized and group orientation and mobility training to students with visual impairments
• Assess student needs, develop goals, and implement effective instructional plans
• Document progress and maintain clear, organized records
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support each student’s educational goals
• Offer guidance and resources to staff and families on orientation and mobility strategies
• Support student independence within the school and community environments
