Job Summary

Our Manager-in-Training role is designed for individuals with a strong foundation in leadership, management, and/or business operations who are ready to take on increasing responsibility within a rapidly growing organization.

Working alongside experienced leadership, this position provides hands-on exposure to people, operations, administration, and business functions while developing the skills needed for future leadership opportunities.

The ideal candidate is an adaptable, coachable, and accountable leader who can learn quickly, solve problems, manage competing priorities, communicate effectively, and lead others. The specific responsibilities and growth path will vary based on the individual's experience, strengths, performance, and the needs of the organization.

What We're Looking For

• 1–2+ years of related experience in lawn care, horticulture, agronomy, or lawn care services preferred , or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 2+ years of management, leadership, operations, or related professional experience preferred
• Experience leading, coaching, or developing others
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills
• Ability to set goals, manage priorities, and take ownership of results
• Ability to hold others accountable and navigate difficult conversations
• Strong self-awareness and emotional intelligence
• Demonstrated adaptability, coachability, and willingness to learn
• Interest in continued professional and leadership development

Industry experience is preferred, but not required. Because this role may support and help grow developing branches, candidates should bring a strong leadership and business foundation, sound judgment, work ethic, and the ability to learn and apply new skills quickly.

We can teach the lawn-care business; we're looking for leaders who can help us grow it. Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day business and operational activities
• Help drive the growth and performance of developing branches
• Ensure safety and quality standards are consistently met
• Plan and conduct new-hire and ongoing employee training
• Coach, develop, and hold employees accountable
• Partner with leadership and administration on recruiting and talent selection
• Track and execute daily, weekly, and monthly business goals
• Conduct performance reviews and manage progressive discipline
• Lead daily and weekly production meetings
• Partner with peers and leadership to achieve departmental and company goals
• Ensure required licensing, certifications, and vehicle inspections are maintained
• Assist with recruiting and training seasonal marketing teams

Additional Requirements

• Valid, permanent driver's license and clean driving record required
• Required licenses and certifications must be obtained as required by law
• Microsoft Office proficiency
• Mechanical aptitude is a plus
• Pesticide licensing, as required by law

Physical Requirements

This is an active leadership position requiring both indoor and outdoor work. Duties may include walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, lifting up to 50 lbs., pushing/pulling equipment, and working around varying weather conditions, animals, insects, chemicals, and mechanical equipment while following required safety procedures.
