Mobile Diesel Technician Level II Position Overview Shift - Tuesday - Saturday Cox Fleet – A Cox Automotive Company keeps your fleet moving! Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials. Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, air conditioning, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment. Manage parts inventory, perform periodic reconciliation, and operate company‑issued service truck with safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections. Work with clients and customers, assess their needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve problems. Prioritize concurrent tasks, schedule work effectively, and maintain a high level of productivity within standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved vendors as required and communicate with management for approvals and repair estimates. Document all work according to company standards, upload pictures and parts used, and accurately complete DOT forms in a timely manner. Maintain compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. Requirements High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field (alternatively, higher degree or 5 years’ experience). Possess a set of hand tools necessary for the job. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months. Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical. Hold a valid state driver’s license with a valid DOT medical card or pass a DOT physical. Be at least 21 years old. Meet safe driver requirements. Preferred Certifications ASE T3 (Drivetrain) certification ASE T4 (Brakes) certification ASE T5 (Suspension) certification ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) certification ASE T7 (HVAC) certification ASE 608/609 certification Skills & Abilities Understand new information for current and future problem‑solving. Lift, bend, climb, and stand for long periods; perform moderately heavy labor. Maintain physical stamina for repetitive tasks. Communicate facts and ideas succinctly; engage in effective two‑way communication. Determine appropriate tools and equipment needed. Accurately judge distances between objects.
