AI Research & Innovation Lead

Salary: $112,500 - 187,500 per year Requirements:

• We require a masters or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cognitive Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Operations Research, or a closely related quantitative field.
• We require 8+ years of professional experience in AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• We need a strong grounding in one or more of the following areas: classical AI, knowledge representation through ontology, knowledge graphs and graph neural networks, automated reasoning systems, search and planning algorithms, causal inference and causal modeling, probabilistic graphical models, explainable AI, and trustworthy AI.
• We require advanced Python programming ability and familiarity with modern AI development frameworks.
• We prefer familiarity with consumer data, fraud detection, financial services, risk analytics, identity, or marketing applications.

• We lead exploratory research efforts focused on emerging AI methods and how they can be applied to the business.
• We drive innovation across areas such as neuro-symbolic AI, reasoning systems, knowledge-enhanced machine learning, agentic AI, causal AI, explainable AI, and human-AI collaboration.
• We monitor AI trends and evaluate their implications for our products and services.
• We design, build, and assess proof-of-concepts and prototypes that showcase the value of new AI technologies.
• We create repeatable approaches to measure AI capabilities, limitations, risks, and business impact.
• We partner with engineering teams to turn successful research concepts into production-ready solutions.
• We represent TransUnion through publications and patents.
• We work in modern cloud-based environments with access to advanced AI infrastructure for experimentation and rapid prototyping.
• We explore and evaluate emerging AI paradigms including neuro-symbolic systems, causal AI, knowledge graphs, autonomous agents, reasoning systems, and trustworthy AI.

Our AI R&D organization sits within the Data Science & Analytics function, reporting to the Senior Manager, Data Science & Analytics. We focus on advancing next-generation AI capabilities that can create strategic advantage across credit, fraud, insurance, and marketing use cases.
