POSITION SUMMARY: Southeastern Michigan Health Association (SEMHA) is seeking a Licensed Psychologist (PhD/PsyD) to provide psychological services within the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility. This position offers a unique opportunity to work directly with court-involved youth while serving as a key clinical leader in a secure, rehabilitation-focused environment.

The Psychologist will conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations, lead behavioral intervention planning, provide crisis assessment and consultation, and support trauma-informed care initiatives throughout the facility. This role is ideal for a professional passionate about adolescent mental health, behavioral stabilization, and helping youth achieve positive long-term outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations, including diagnostic clarification and risk assessments
• Perform suicide risk and behavioral threat assessments
• Develop and oversee individualized Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs)
• Monitor and adjust interventions based on youth response and behavioral data
• Provide real-time consultation during behavioral crises
• Prepare clear, defensible psychological reports for court and treatment planning
• Deliver trauma-informed care training to staff
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including custody, medical, educational, and court personnel
• Coordinate with educational staff regarding IEP implementation and behavioral accommodations
• Support implementation of trauma-informed and evidence-based practices facility-wide
• Ensure compliance with licensure standards, policies, and regulatory requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• Doctoral Degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology from an APA-accredited program
• Licensed Psychologist (LP) in the State of Michigan
• Current BLS Certification
• Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
• Experience conducting psychological assessments, risk evaluations, and behavioral intervention planning
• Experience managing crisis situations and high-acuity behavioral health cases

Preferred:

• APA-accredited internship completion
• Three to five years of post-doctoral clinical experience
• Experience working with adolescents in juvenile justice, detention, residential treatment, or community behavioral health settings
• Experience preparing court reports and/or providing testimony
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care, adolescent development, and evidence-based behavioral interventions

WORK ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULE:

• Part-time position averaging 16 hours per week
• Flexible scheduling based on facility and program needs
• May require responsiveness to urgent behavioral health situations
• Collaborative, team-oriented environment focused on youth rehabilitation and wellness

Salary: $44 - $62 hourly (based on qualification & experience)

Employment Type: Part-Time

Work Hours: 16 hrs. a week

Classification: Non-exempt (hourly)
