Senior Roadway Project Engineer

Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking a Senior Roadway Project Engineer to spearhead a massive infrastructure initiative in Chandler, AZ . This is an elite opportunity to join a premier transportation engineering team on a landmark $180 million project . Spanning 12 miles and featuring five complex interchanges—including a major diamond interchange—this two-year initiative is a career-defining project that will shape Arizona’s future mobility. We are looking for a technical leader who can transition seamlessly between advanced roadway design and high-level client advocacy. This role is designed for a Licensed PE who thrives on technical rigor, mentorship, and the management of high-profile infrastructure assets. Job Responsibilities Advanced Design Leadership: Lead the engineering design for roadway and transportation projects, including the creation of complex drawings, technical reports, and regulatory documentation. Large-Scale Project Execution: Manage technical deliverables for a 12-mile, $180M infrastructure project , ensuring all 5 interchanges meet safety and resilience standards. Project Management Support: Develop project scopes, budgets, and design approaches; supervise resources and schedules in close coordination with Project Managers. Client Advocacy: Act as the primary technical representative in client meetings, fostering strong relationships with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders. Quality Assurance: Provide high-level technical oversight and mentorship to junior staff, ensuring all deliverables meet the firm’s standards for excellence. Business Development: Support growth initiatives through technical proposal preparation and participation in high-stakes client interviews. Complex Problem Solving: Apply advanced engineering principles to mitigate utility impacts and solve design bottlenecks in rail transit and roadway segments. Education & Licensing (Mandatory) Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred). Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Arizona is REQUIRED (or the ability to obtain reciprocity immediately). Experience & Technical Skills Minimum of 8+ years of progressive experience in roadway and transportation engineering. Massive Infrastructure Expertise: Demonstrated experience with large-scale roadway design or rail transit mitigation. Software Proficiency: Advanced command of AutoCAD Civil 3D or equivalent modeling software. Leadership: Proven ability to work independently on multi-million dollar projects while leading and mentoring design teams. Soft Skills Communication: Exceptional presentation and verbal skills for high-level client-facing interactions. Strategic Thinking: Ability to manage budgets and schedules without sacrificing technical precision.
