Formulary Admin Specialist I

Responsibilities Weekly drug updates for commercial clients: review weekly drug update projects, assist in formulary maintenance, attend client meetings, monitor and update drug rules and auto‑coding rules as requested, research and respond to client inquiries, and escalates complex issues to managers or pharmacists. Weekly drug updates for Medicare Part D formularies: same set of tasks as commercial clients, focusing on Medicare PartD drug listings. Formulary mailbox and Salesforce cases management: triage inquiries, troubleshoot basic issues, escalation of complex matters, draft client communications, customize templates, and prepare routine responses. Monthly and pre‑plan year ASCII submissions: upload CMS status tracking, update database version numbers, process and distribute ASCII submission files, and collaborate with assigned pharmacists. Negative formulary changes process: enter negative change requests into the formulary platform, upload and submit to HPMS, perform quality control on future formulary change files, and distribute client updates for website posting. Formulary pre‑plan year process: review implementation questionnaires, clarify questions or issues with clients, build formulary frameworks, prepare basic formulary parameters, and provide audit support for claims analysis. Prior Authorization processing as needed during staffing shortages or absences. Gain a solid understanding of formulary and PBM operations through on‑the‑job training and related educational opportunities. Client Responsibilities Respond promptly to client needs and solicit feedback to improve service. Address requests for service and assistance, meet commitments, and manage difficult client situations. Qualifications Education and/or Experience : Associate's degree or Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPT) (or equivalent combination); Bachelor’s degree preferred; at least 1+ year pharmacy or PBM industry experience with Medicare PartD and Prior Authorization. Computer Skills : Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiar with database usage. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations : Current Pharmacy Technician License and/or CPhT certification without restriction preferred. Other Skills and Abilities : Basic PBM knowledge, drug information, and prior authorization experience; familiarity with National Drug Data Provider products; Medicare PartD formulary knowledge; strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, ability to juggle multiple priorities, detail oriented, good reasoning and mathematical skills, ability to work cohesively with a team.
