The Gig

We’re looking for a dynamic, results-driven Captain to run the show at MOXY Phoenix Tempe—a vibrant, design-forward lifestyle playground right in the center of Tempe's high-demand, high-energy university and urban scene. This isn’t a standard desk job. We need a bold culture leader who lives and breathes the Moxy vibe—someone who effortlessly blends serious operational hustle with a spirited, playful atmosphere. You’ll be the ultimate brand ambassador in the community while smashing financial targets, keeping the crew hyped, and ensuring our guests have unforgettable stays, all in line with Twenty Four Seven Hotels standards.

What You’ll Do

Chief Vibes Officer & Crew Culture

• Own the Moxy vision and keep it alive, buzzing, and perfectly aligned with ownership goals.
• Build a high-performance squad where accountability meets serious fun, fostering a culture of spirited service and deep crew engagement.
• Lead by example from the floor, ensuring a guest-first, experiential mindset across every single shift.
• Recruit, mentor, and level-up your department heads and crew; championing internal promotion and sticking around for the long haul.

Flawless Operations & The Moxy Experience

• Oversee total hotel operations, including the Crew (Front Desk + Bar mashup), Housekeeping, Engineering, Food & Beverage, Sales, and Admin.
• Deliver non-boring guest experiences that get people talking, driving major love on social media and guest satisfaction metrics.
• Squash guest issues creatively and execute lightning-fast, brilliant service recovery when things go sideways.
• Keep it legit by maintaining full compliance with Marriott/Moxy brand standards, safety rules, and operational procedures.

Money & Metrics

• Build and crush annual business plans, budgets, and forecasts to hit serious topline and bottom-line goals.
• Drive performance across all the major report cards: RevPAR Index, ADR, occupancy, and GOP margins.
• Dive into operational data and financial metrics to find quick wins and smart pivots.
• Keep a sharp eye on costs, labor management, and overall profitability without breaking the vibe.

Sales, Hype & Local Buzz

• Team up closely with Sales, Marketing, and Revenue management to grab market share, hijack local events, and flood the hotel with demand.
• Use data, tech, and killer social promotions to keep the property top-of-mind and relevant.
• Lock in tight relationships with Arizona State University partners, local businesses, and community organizations.

Community Hookups & Brand Rep

• Be the public face of the hotel, mixing and mingling in the local Tempe market to drive traffic.
• Lock in local partnerships that bring outsiders into our space for food, drinks, and events.
• Color outside the lines by balancing strict Marriott standards with local, entrepreneurial, and unconventional ideas.

What You Bring to the Bar

• 5+ years of experience crushing it as a Hotel General Manager, Captain, or equivalent senior lifestyle hospitality leadership role.
• Marriott system experience is highly preferred—bonus points if you already speak fluent Moxy.
• A proven track record of driving financial wins, tight operations, and stellar guest reviews.
• A magnetic leadership presence—you know how to inspire, develop, and retain a high-performing crew.
• Deep knowledge of revenue management, sales strategy, and P&L oversight.
• Sharp problem-solving instincts and advanced analytical skills.
• A master understanding of competitive market dynamics, university-driven towns, and local Tempe/Phoenix demand.
• The ability to juggle strict brand requirements with pure innovation, fun, and operational agility.
