Machinist

This position is located at our Southbridge, MA facility. As a Machinist, you will be responsible for various machine shop duties including programming, setup and operation of most shop equipment. A strong technical background with a machining foundation is required.

Responsibilities

1. Responsible for set-up and operation of machine tools to reproduce precision metal parts, according to specification.
2. Read, interpret and follow both basic and complex blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications and other written instructions or procedures to accurately machine parts.
3. Perform tool changes, offsets and compensations independently.
4. Operate one or more machines efficiently and safely.
5. Inspect and verify features according to Quality Inspection Plans (QIP's) during production.
6. Support training efforts on products and processes within the machining department.
7. Provide input on new product processing and troubleshoot process issues.
8. Ability to operate CNC equipment including machine start ups, simple setups, program selection, tool offsets, compensations and tooling changes, with minimal supervision.
9. Experience with Swiss and Mazak highly desired.
10. Document actions by completing required production documentation and performing ERP transactions.
11. Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing department goals.
12. Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; clean equipment and area before, during and after shift.
13. Adhere to all company safety equipment requirements at all times within all production areas, including required PPE for each department; Safety glasses and safety shoes must be worn at all times within all production areas, NO EXCEPTIONS.
14. Adhere to EHS, Right to Know and RCRA requirements.
15. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• US Citizenship or permanent residency required.
• Additional related technical/vocational training and certifications preferred.
• Ideal candidate will have experience with one or more of the following: lathes, mills, drills, punch presses, deburring machines
• 1 year Machining experience preferred
• Good understanding of quality control principles.
• Good communication skills (verbal and written).
• Basic computer navigation and utilization skills.
• Good working knowledge of measurement devices, tooling, and gages.
• Good eye-hand coordination.
• Good working knowledge of machine shop mathematics and GD&T.
• Ability to machine parts independently from print to finished product.

The salary range for this position is $24.26 - $29.43 per hour and represents the minimum and maximum for the position. The actual range will vary based upon factors including but not limited to: prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position's qualifications and internal equity.
