Job ID: 26013892Posted: 2026-09-25Location: Chennai, TN, India; Bengaluru, KA, IndiaJob Function: Engineering & ArchitectureSchedule: Full timeShift: DayWorkplace: HybridCareer Area: TechnologyCompany: American ExpressDescriptionThe U.S. Consumer Services and Enterprise Digital & Data Technology Team delivers strategic technology capabilities across digital experiences, AI/ML, marketing technology, enterprise communications and automation.We are looking for a Lead Mar Tech Architect – Adobe Data Collection & Experience Platform to lead the architecture, design and hands-on implementation of enterprise-scale Adobe Mar Tech data collection solutions across web and mobile channels.This senior technical leadership role requires deep expertise in Adobe Data Collection, Web SDK, Mobile SDK, Adobe Analytics (AA) and Customer Journey Analytics (CJA), combined with broad knowledge of AEP, RTCDP, AJO and Target. The individual will combine architect-level thinking with hands-on execution, technical leadership, end-to-end ownership and effective engagement with engineering teams, business partners and senior management.ResponsibilitiesOwn the architecture, design and hands-on implementation of enterprise Adobe Data Collection solutions across web and mobile channels.Lead implementation of Adobe Tags, including properties, data elements, rules, extensions, environments and publishing workflows.Architect and implement Web SDK and Mobile SDK, including DataStream, XDM, identity, consent and Edge Network integrations.Define scalable data collection architecture, standards and governance across digital channels.Design end-to-end data flows from web/mobile through Adobe Edge Network into AEP, RTCDP, AJO, CJA, Adobe Analytics and Target.Establish reusable engineering standards for tagging, schemas, naming conventions, data elements, rules, DataStream and release management.Architect and support enterprise integrations using REST APIs, Postman and JSON, including authentication, payload validation and troubleshooting.Use SQL for data analysis, validation, reconciliation and troubleshooting.Drive engineering quality across testing, release management, monitoring, security, performance and scalable implementation practices.Provide technical and architecture leadership, mentor engineers and drive complex technical challenges through resolution.Take end-to-end accountability for technical quality, delivery, risks and business outcomes.Partner effectively with engineering, product, analytics, marketing, data, privacy, Adobe and implementation partners.Navigate ambiguity and influence across organizational boundaries to drive complex initiatives to resolution.Communicate architecture, strategy, progress, risks and recommendations to technical, business and senior management audiences, connecting technology decisions to customer and business outcomes.Evaluate emerging Mar Tech capabilities and architectural patterns, including opportunities to leverage AI/Generative AI across engineering productivity, analytics and customer experiences.Qualifications12+ years of overall technology experience, preferably in Mar Tech, digital analytics, customer data or digital experience.5+ years of hands-on experience with Adobe Mar Tech/Experience Cloud technologies.Architect-level experience combined with strong hands-on implementation capability.Experience delivering at least 3 enterprise Adobe technology implementations, including significant Data Collection/Web SDK/Mobile SDK implementations or migrations.Deep expertise in Adobe Data Collection/Tags, properties, data elements, rules, Web SDK, Mobile SDK, DataStream, Edge Network and XDM.Strong working knowledge of AEP, RTCDP, AJO, CJA, Adobe Analytics and Target.Strong understanding of customer identity, event/profile data, consent and digital behavioral data architectures.Strong hands-on experience with REST APIs, Postman, JSON and integration troubleshooting.Strong SQL skills and ability to independently analyses large customer and behavioral datasets.Strong understanding of JavaScript, concepts and web/mobile architectures relevant to data collection.Proven ability to lead teams, mentor technical talent, work with partners and influence cross-functional stakeholders.Strong ownership, accountability, problem-solving and decision-making skills.Excellent executive communication, presentation and storytelling capabilities.Ability to balance strategy, architecture and hands-on execution.Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to embrace emerging technologies, particularly AI/Generative AI.Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology or related discipline; strong academic background from a recognized institution preferred.Additional Technical Experience PreferredExperience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:Java, J2EE, Spring Boot and enterprise application developmentRelational databases and GCP Big QueryJUnit, Cucumber, TDD and BDDEnterprise REST APIs and web servicesReact or modern web technologiesAbout the TeamAt American Express, our culture is built on a 175-year history of innovation, shared values and Leadership Behaviors, and an unwavering commitment to back our customers, communities, and colleagues.
