Field Construction Administrator

Overview of Position The Construction Administrator will act on behalf of the Engineer of Record (EOR) during the construction phase and is responsible for the management, technical verification, and enforcement of the construction administration (CA) process for design and construction projects including new installations, renovations, and system upgrades. Building systems include IT, Communications, Security, Audio-Visual systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection, with a primary emphasis on low-voltage systems. This role places a strong focus on field verification and confirmation of compliance with the Contract Documents, applicable codes and standards, and recognized industry best practices. The Construction Administrator is responsible for evaluating installed work, identifying non-conforming conditions, directing corrective action through formal CA channels, and supporting the EOR’s authority related to acceptance, rejection, and final approval of systems. Administrative responsibilities remain an integral part of the role. Location This position will be required to be onsite at client locations. Travel to east coast client sites will be required. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Act as an extension of the Engineer of Record during the construction phase, supporting the EOR’s authority related to interpretation of the Contract Documents and verification of installed work. Perform site visits to verify, not merely observe, installation of low-voltage and building systems for conformance with drawings, specifications, codes, standards, and industry best practices (including BICSI, TIA, NEC). Identify, document, and communicate non-conforming work, and coordinate corrective actions through RFIs, field reports, and formal CA documentation. Review contractor submittals, RFIs, change orders, and pay applications for technical compliance and alignment with verified field conditions prior to EOR approval. Review and evaluate system testing, commissioning, and training activities to support conditional and final acceptance recommendations to the EOR. Support enforcement of QA/QC requirements, including punch lists, deficiency tracking, and verification of corrective work completion. Provide constructability feedback and field-driven clarification to the design team consistent with the EOR’s design intent. Maintain documentation necessary to support the EOR’s professional responsibility and decision-making throughout construction and close-out. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred, Associate’s degree or equivalent experience, required Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in construction administration, inspection, or field engineering with direct responsibility for verification of low-voltage systems. Demonstrated working knowledge of BICSI, TIA, NEC, and recognized best practices, with the ability to apply these standards in an enforcement and compliance role. Proven experience supporting or acting on behalf of an Engineer of Record in active construction environments.
