Retail Assistant Manager

Job Description

The Retail Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in supporting daily store operations while overseeing a medium-sized team of 6 to 15 employees. Reporting directly to the Store Manager and Multi-store Manager, this position balances hands-on leadership with involvement in strategic planning and leading major store projects to drive success. The role is primarily in-store, focusing on delivering excellent customer service, meeting sales targets, and maintaining smooth operations.

Responsibilities

Supervise and motivate a team of 6-15 retail staff
Ensure excellent customer service and resolve conflicts effectively
Drive sales to meet or exceed targets
Manage inventory and control stock levels
Train and develop retail staff to enhance performance
Oversee cash management and daily financial reporting
Create and manage staff schedules for optimal coverage
Implement visual merchandising standards
Coordinate vendor relationships and deliveries
Support store operations and contribute to strategic planning
Lead major store projects and initiatives

Required Qualifications

2+ years of retail management experience
High school diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications

Customer service expertise
Sales management skills
Inventory management experience
Strong team leadership abilities
Cash handling proficiency
Familiarity with POS systems
Excellent communication skills
Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution
Time management capabilities
