Anesthesiologist Needed at the VA Hospital in Salem, VA

THE SHORT : We need three (3) Anesthesiologists for positions at the Salem VA Health Care System in Salem, VA. Mon-Fri + Call. Pay $415/hr. 1099, all-inclusive. Any state license. Board Certified/Board Eligible. U.S. Citizens required.

LOCATION: Salem VA Health Care System (HCS), 1970 Roanoke Boulevard, Salem, VA 24153

START DATE / DURATION:

• Anticipated start October 5, 2026, subject to contract award, credentialing, privileging, and onboarding.
• 5 year contract.
• Note: The duration of the contract is between the government and Wander Staffing. As with any position, if life requires you to leave, please provide a 60-day notice.

COMPENSATION:

• $415/hr regular hours
• $475/hr call back
• $50/hr on call
• 1099, all-inclusive
• We cover Med Mal (claims made + tail)

SCHEDULE:

• Mon-Fri 07:00-15:30
• Weekday on-call: Mon-Fri 15:30-07:00.
• Weekend on-call: Sat 07:00-Mon 07:00.
• Holiday on-call: 24-hour coverage, 07:00-07:00.
• Call-back time: available within 15 minutes by phone and onsite within 60 minutes.
• Call rotation is shared amonst contractor physicians and VA staff with 1-2 call back events/week

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Citizen of the United States
• Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA)
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in the field of anesthesiology.
• Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Current DEA certificate and NPI
• Must meet VA credentialing, privileging, training, and background/security requirements

MODEL:

• Anesthesiologists may personally administer anesthesia or clinically supervise CRNAs: pending answers from the gvt
• Anesthesiologists will NOT participate in the education and supervision of Health Professions Trainees (HPTs) rotating through the Anesthesia department.

DEPARTMENT:

CASE VOLUME:

• Average daily and annual anesthetic case volume: pending answers from the gvt
• Typical ASA acuity and inpatient/outpatient mix: pending answers from the gvt

CASE TYPES:

• Cardiac, orthopedic joint replacement, thoracic, neuro, plastic, ENT, urologic, and ophthalmologic cases.
