First Cook-Food Service Food Production-Mount Sinai Morningside

The First Cook prepares high-quality foods for patients and non-patient services.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates the ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks
• Prepares high quality foods for patient and non-patient services.
• Ensures quality, quantity, temperature and appearance of food produced meets departmental and regulatory standards
• Ensures all food items are produced in accordance to department protocols: follows standardized recipes and completes production sheets for all menu items
• Produces and/or dispatches all food items in a timely manner
• Ensures that all equipment used for handling and preparation of food is functioning properly. Reports malfunctions to Supervisor/chef manager
• Maintains and verifies full compliance with OHSA/HACCP standards.
• Coordinates the development of new menu items with the Chef Manager.
• Utilizes advanced culinary skills to prepare specialty items according to established recipes.
• Oversees and performs (when necessary) equipment sanitizing according to departmental and HACCP regulations.
• Assists in the testing of all new recipes.
• Relieves Second Cooks in-patient and non-patient feeding.
• Successfully completes annual physician examination.
• Any other duties as assigned by Management

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent. Formal training in food preparation preferred.
• Three years of large quantity cooking experience. Two years related experience.

Compensation Statement: The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $31.87 - $34.11 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
