Job Description Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) is a Michigan Veteran's Affairs Agency Gold Level Veteran Friendly Employer. MDOC employs approximately 1,500 veterans and active military members. This role is a non-career registered nurse position, intended for intermittent use when a career RN is unavailable. Employment may last up to 1,040 hours per calendar year. Responsibilities Provide nursing services to convicted felons in a correctional facility. Perform the full range of nursing assignments in a fully functioning capacity, applying nursing practice guidelines and adapting or interpreting them as needed based on individual situations. Qualifications Possession of a diploma, associate's, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in nursing accepted by the Michigan Board of Nursing. Michigan license in good standing as a registered nurse. No specific type or amount of experience required. Will meet all ethical and loyalty standards required for state classified service. Additional Information Retirees may work in a non-career position without forfeiting retirement benefits.
