Accounting Supervisor

The Accounting Supervisor oversees accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, financial reporting, and assigned close activities to support accurate and timely financial results. The role supervises AP and AR personnel, maintains strong internal controls, coordinates audit support, prepares journal entries and reconciliations, and serves as a key resource for SAP and other finance systems. The position also supports travel and expense administration, cross-functional initiatives, and continuous process improvement through automation and standardization.

1. Accounting Operations and Financial Close

• Prepare, review, and post journal entries in accordance with established close schedules and approval requirements.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities and help ensure financial transactions are complete, accurate, and recorded in the appropriate period.
• Prepare and review monthly account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and document timely resolution of reconciling items.
• Coordinate assigned reporting and data-load activities, including OneStream support for actual and quarter-end reporting.

2. Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable

• Supervise AP and AR activities and monitor daily workload, priorities, accuracy, and service levels.
• Oversee supplier invoice processing, credit memos, payment requests, payment releases, vendor account maintenance, and resolution of payment discrepancies.
• Oversee cash application, customer payment processing, credit adjustments, customer account maintenance, and resolution of unapplied or disputed items.
• Review AP and AR aging, reconciliations, and account analyses; coordinate follow-up on overdue receivables and aged supplier items.
• Ensure AP and AR transactions comply with purchasing, approval, payment authorization, revenue, and general ledger requirements.

3. Internal Controls, Compliance, and Audit Support

• Maintain strong internal controls and appropriate segregation of duties across AP, AR, general ledger, reporting, and related processes.
• Perform assigned control activities and maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready documentation with clear approval traceability.
• Ensure compliance with SOX requirements, corporate accounting policies, local procedures, and applicable accounting standards.
• Coordinate and provide support for internal and external audits, including reports, reconciliations, data extracts, documentation, and responses to audit selections.
• Assist with root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions for control, audit, or process issues.

4. Systems, Reporting, and Process Improvement

• Serve as a finance key user and subject matter resource for SAP, including approval-routing changes, issue resolution, testing, and participation on assigned SAP committees.
• Maintain and improve local finance forms, SharePoint solutions, reports, workflows, and reference materials.
• Support finance applications and reporting tools, including SAP, OneStream, ADP reporting tools, Concur, Citibank, and Microsoft 365 applications.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, standardization, control evidence, and user experience through automation and process redesign.
• Document processes, train users, and support adoption of updated tools and procedures.

5. Leadership and Team Development

• Supervise, train, coach, and develop AP and AR team members; conduct regular one-on-one discussions and provide timely guidance.
• Assign work, establish priorities, balance workload, and communicate department issues, resource needs, and task status to management.
• Establish clear expectations and promote accountability, collaboration, customer service, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
• Ensure adequate process documentation, cross-training, and backup coverage for critical accounting activities.

Additional Information:

• Travel is occasionally required, up to 5% of the time.

Safety and Physical Requirements:

• All employees are responsible for knowing, understanding and complying with the safety policies and procedures.
• Wear PPE when appropriate in designated campus areas.
• Lifting shoulder high up to 35 lbs. on occasion.
• Primarily an office environment with periodic interaction in a manufacturing setting. The employee may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and normal plant noise.
• Regular use of a laptop, standard office equipment, finance applications, and a company travel and expense card, as assigned.

This position requires sound judgment, attention to detail, the ability to handle confidential financial information, and flexibility to support business needs and close deadlines. Responsibilities may be adjusted based on organizational priorities, system changes, and evolving finance processes.

Education & Experience:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting or related field required; AP,
• Experience: Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, including AP, AR, general ledger, close, reporting, and reconciliation responsibilities. Prior supervisory or team-lead experience preferred. Manufacturing accounting experience preferred.
• Accounting knowledge: Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, SOX compliance, financial reporting, account reconciliation, and accounting best practices.
• Systems: Proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Excel required. Experience with OneStream, ADP reporting tools, Concur, Citibank, SharePoint, Power Apps, Power Automate, or similar platforms is beneficial.
• Core Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, communication, problem-solving, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Ability to prioritize competing deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and produce accurate work in a close-driven environment.
