Certified Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift

Job Description

The Certified Respiratory Therapist is responsible for administering safe and competent respiratory care as ordered by a physician, with a focus on specialty areas such as Emergency, Neonatal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Critical Care. This role encompasses monitoring mechanical ventilation, administering medications, conducting patient assessments, and understanding hemodynamic monitoring and blood work results.

Responsibilities

• Competently deliver all respiratory care procedures as outlined in the department policy and procedure manual.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all procedures per department policies.
• Verify physician's orders for respiratory care and update patient information accordingly.
• Attend department meetings, in-services, and patient care rounds.
• Document all daily services and charges for patients in the department's computer system.
• Perform effective airway management, assist with intubation, and utilize appropriate suction techniques.
• Initiate, maintain, and monitor ventilator patients; interpret flow volumes and pressure volume curves.
• Conduct arterial blood gas draws and make recommendations for therapeutic interventions based on assessments.
• Comply with safety standards and personal protective equipment requirements.
• Assist in the training of new employees and intern students.
• Participate in continuous training and education specific to departmental requirements.
• Assist in patient charge reconciliation and verify accuracy for payroll preparation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of a COARC approved Respiratory Care Program.
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential by the NBRC.
• BLS certification (to be obtained within 90 days of hire).
• NRP certification (to be obtained within 6 months of hire).
• At least one year of respiratory experience in a hospital setting.
• Experience with pulmonary and cardiac diagnostics preferred.
