Phlebotomist Opportunity

ARMStaffing is looking for a Phlebotomist in Johnson City, New York.

Location: Johnson City, NY

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule/Shift: Evening Rotational; 40 hours; 1:30 PM - 10:00 PM or 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM; Friday to Tuesday.

Job Description: The Phlebotomist will perform daily activities within the Support Services Department, including both inpatient and outpatient specimen collection. Responsibilities include venipuncture, stock rotation, and nursing home draws. The role may involve working at external off-site locations such as Skilled Nursing Facilities and Pre-Admission Testing, requiring the ability to perform EKGs.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection procedures on inpatients and outpatients, ensuring compliance with patient identification procedures.
• Conduct various types of blood draws and tests, including venipuncture and urine collections, understanding fasting and non-fasting requirements.
• Enter test orders in the EHR system, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete, including consent forms and prior authorizations.
• Organize and prioritize workload for STAT and routine patient testing while adhering to turnaround time protocols.
• Assist as an outpatient department receptionist, managing patient flow and ensuring timely service for all patients, especially fasting patients.
• Monitor patients throughout procedures to detect any adverse reactions, notifying relevant healthcare staff if complications arise.
• Execute downtime procedures for HIS or LIS outages and assist with system recovery efforts.

Required Experience: No specific experience is required; however, three months of phlebotomy experience in an acute care setting is preferred.

Certifications/Licensure: No specific certifications or licenses are required.
