Job Title: Human Resources - CMA - Admitting - Scheduling - Billing - Cayuga Medical Associates
Hourly Pay Rate: $36.85


Job Description:
This is a remote position at Cayuga Medical Associates. As an Authorization Specialist, you will review physician orders, pharmacy documents, and utilize third-party technology platforms to ensure all authorization processes are completed accurately. Your responsibilities include initiating authorizations, conducting follow-ups, and documenting relevant information to ensure patients receive their medications without delays. You will communicate effectively with clinics, physicians, insurance companies, department administrators, and other staff to promote a seamless patient experience.


Key Responsibilities:

• Initiate prior authorizations via fax or third-party sites
• Follow up with insurance companies for status updates and submit additional information as needed for approval
• Validate insurance coverage and benefits
• Gather and accurately input patient and guarantor demographic and financial data
• Adhere to financial policies and procedures with integrity and good judgment
• Use registration systems, electronic verification tools, and web resources proficiently
• Maintain knowledge of third-party reimbursement requirements and regulations
• Communicate professionally and positively with customers and team members
• Meet quality, collections, productivity, and customer service standards
• Maintain flexibility in work schedule to meet departmental needs
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and hospital requirements
• Participate in departmental meetings and other assigned activities
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Education & Experience:

• Associate's degree with two (2) years of relevant healthcare experience, OR
• High School diploma (or equivalent) with four (4) years of relevant experience
• Minimum of two (2) years' healthcare experience working in a health plan, physician practice, surgery center, or hospital in a business capacity
• At least one (1) year of experience obtaining authorizations with healthcare providers or insurance companies
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
• Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, and diagnosis codes

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
• Repetitive use of hands and fingers
