Lawn Care Applicator

Position Summary

Diagnose insect and diseases and prescribe solutions for turf and ornamental plants. Apply various pesticides according to label specifications and in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. 

Detailed Responsibilities:

Ø Operate spraying equipment, in a safe appropriate manner.

Ø Ensure landscape workers are operating equipment in a safe manner and using proper safety equipment.

Ø Direct and participate in equipment maintenance duties on a scheduled basis per the company equipment maintenance procedures that include changing equipment oil, cleaning oil and air filters, calibrating sprayers/spreaders and reporting broken equipment.

Ø Report all injuries and occupational related illnesses immediately to management.

Ø Prepare and maintain all required records and reports in an accurate and timely manner to include hourly labor performed by landscape workers.

Ø Communicate and discuss any account issues with management to include dry areas, excessive wet areas, insect disease damage, broken sprinklers, and running water.

Ø Report any safety related issues with the equipment or landscape employees to team leader.

Ø Have the ability to calibrate spraying equipment, and spreaders for a granular product.

Ø Lift equipment in and out of vehicle that includes bags of granular product, gallons of liquid material, push spreaders and back pack sprayers.

Ø Attend and participate in scheduled training sessions as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ø Valid Drivers License – Must meet insurance underwriting requirements

Ø Valid CT DEEP Commercial Pesticide Applicators License, or ability to obtain license within 30 days.

Ø Valid NY DEC Commercial Pesticide Applicators License, or ability to obtain license within 30 days.

Ø Prior pesticide application experience preferred

Ø Ability to lift 50 lbs.

 Experience: Prior pesticide experience preferred.

The majority of the work is performed in an outdoor field environment and on the road; a minimal amount of work is performed in an indoor office; travel from site to site; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, salts or salt based products, mechanical and electrical hazards, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; work in or around water; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions; work and/or walk on various types of surfaces including slippery or uneven surfaces and rough terrain.
