Essential Functions Assist the Manager in meeting the sales and profit projections of the store through the making of sushi and following company policies and procedures. Work various shifts or days as assigned based on Company business needs. Experience cutting fresh fish and seafood for sushi/sashimi applications. Ensure sushi is prepared, handled, stocked, rotated and merchandised for best results. Safely operate department equipment including knife, appliances, wrapper, sushi equipment. Maintain a knife grip to cut fish or other seafood to specification. Endure long periods in a working environment of 40°F or more. Meet productivity standards as set by the company. Use in‑store computer system and scanning equipment. Weigh, price, label, organize and rotate sushi products per company standards. Assist customers with special requests and questions regarding the sushi department. Support any promotional activity within the store and department. Maintain good communication with store management, associates and outside contacts. Perform other tasks as assigned by Manager. Other Duties / Responsibilities Position is non‑exempt. Must work based on business needs. Schedule may change due to vacation, sick calls, inventory, special events, etc. Maintain good communication. Comply with all Health and OSHA requirements. Willingness to learn new methods or systems to improve overall operation. Skills and Abilities The following knowledge, skill, and/or ability are representative of those required for this position. Education/Experience High School diploma or GED required. 2 to 4 years of work experience in a grocery chain or retail establishment preferred. Experience in a similar work environment with a strong work ethic and positive attitude. Prior experience in retail or restaurant environment preferred. Strong prioritization and accountability. Language Ability Read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures or regulations related to grocery establishments, including procedure manuals. Communicate effectively with clients and customers, and interact with all levels of management. Licenses Food handling license. Work Environment Fast‑paced, demanding and/or stressful environment. Ambient temperature in warehouse; may include dry, chill or frozen container situations. Moderate noise level with frequent lift truck horns or dock leveler operations. Indoor (artificial lighting, air‑conditioned) and outdoor settings. Physical Demands Physical demands include lifting, walking, standing, and occasional sitting within specified weight ranges. Employees may exert themselves within the following limits: Stand: Constantly, 10 lbs. or less. Walk: Constantly, 11‑20 lbs. Sit: Occasionally, 21‑50 lbs. frequently.
