Quality Inspector II

Quality Inspector IIKSM Industries is a leading custom sheet metal fabricator dedicated to providing high-quality, innovative solutions to a diverse range of industries. With a commitment to precision, excellence, and customer satisfaction, we are seeking a Level II Quality Inspector to join our team.Position Summary: As an Inspector at KSM, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of customer parts manufactured by the company. This position involves visually inspecting components, utilizing precision measuring instruments and completing quality documentation (including PPAP). This role includes programming and measuring parts on CMM equipment (i.e. InspecVision, Faro Arm, etc.) and requires a general knowledge of GD&T.Key Responsibilities:Inspection Duties: Perform receiving, in process, and final inspection tasks on a variety of custom parts, sheet metal fabrications, weldments, powder-painted and assembled componentsComplete inspection reports as directed (PPAP, First Article Inspections) and maintain inspection logsEvaluate rejected parts to confirm non-conformance and determine rework feasibilityVisual Inspection: Conduct thorough visual inspections of parts to identify any defects, discrepancies or imperfectionsEnsure that components meet the specified quality standards and match the design requirements of the customer prints or modelsPrecision Measurement: Use a variety of precision measuring instruments (caliper, micrometer, tape, InspecVision, Faro Arm, etc.) to check dimensions and tolerances of componentsAccurately record measurement data and maintain detailed inspection reports.Print and Model Verification: Compare inspected components against customer prints, models or other technical specificationsVerify that dimensions and features align within the provided engineering documentation and tolerances.Quality Documentation: Document inspection results, including any deviations or non-conformities observed during the inspection process and complete PPAP and FAI inspection reports.Communicate findings to relevant personnel (production, engineering, supervisors, management) and work collaboratively to address quality issues.Provide feedback to improve manufacturing processes and prevent recurring quality issuesQualifications:3 to 5 years of experience in a related industryHigh school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certifications in quality control is a plus.Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in sheet metal fabrication or similar industryFamiliarity with precision measuring instruments and the ability to interpret engineering drawings. A general understanding of GD&T principles for manufacturing is highly desired.Attention to detail, accuracy and a commitment to maintaining high standardsStrong communication skills to effectively convey inspection results and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
