Tax & Accounting Manager – Real Estate Development
Miami, FL
StevenDouglas is partnering with a well-established, growing real estate development company in Miami to find a Tax & Accounting Manager. This is a highly visible, tax-focused role for a technical professional who wants to own the tax function across a large multi-entity portfolio while working closely with senior leadership and outside advisors.
This position reports to the Director of Accounting and has direct access to the CFO and executive leadership.
What You'll Do
- Own the annual tax return cycle for 50+ partnership and corporate entities, coordinating with outside CPA firms from draft review through e-file
- Track filing and extension deadlines company-wide, making sure everything is completed accurately and on time
- Review draft partnership and corporate tax returns, including K-1s
- Act as the primary internal contact for external CPA firms, syndicators, and lenders on tax and audit matters
- Research technical tax questions on transactions, discuss them with tax partners, and translate their recommendations for leadership
- Support annual financial statement audits by coordinating PBC items, reviewing draft packages, and resolving auditor inquiries
- Partner with Development and Construction teams on cost data and allocation questions
- Prepare journal entries and guide the corporate accounting team on technical matters
- Identify process improvements across tax, audit, and cost-cert workflows
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive tax experience; a Tax Manager or Senior from public accounting is ideal
- Strong working knowledge of partnership taxation (Subchapter K) and multi-state filing
- CPA preferred
- Advanced Excel; MRI, Yardi, or similar real estate platforms a plus
- Confidence communicating with CPA firm partners, syndicators, and lenders
- A roll-up-your-sleeves attitude: you're an expert who takes equal ownership of the high-level technical work and the day-to-day tracking that keeps it on schedule
