Diesel Technician A

Position Summary With direct supervision from a Lead Technician, Fleet Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager, a Maintenance Technician performs repair and maintenance work on diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks including chassis components, refuse bodies (control, hydraulic, and electrical systems), air brake systems, general engine work, HVAC components, and suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems. The role involves maintaining and repairing highly intricate and powerful machinery, using state‑of‑the‑art equipment, and supporting drivers on routes. Principal Responsibilities Maintain advanced knowledge of and strong skill proficiency in vehicle components and systems. Perform complex repair and maintenance functions on site and on the road. Repair and maintain chassis components. Work on refuse bodies, including control, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Diagnose and repair air and hydraulic braking systems. Diagnose and repair engine systems, with a complete understanding of diesel fuel systems and diagnostics. Maintain suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems. Diagnose and repair heating and air‑conditioning systems. Diagnose aftertreatment systems, REGEN, and perform related diagnostics. Use electronic tools to identify malfunctions. Perform line maintenance, welding, and fabrication. Complete applicable Company training programs. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications Ability to diagnose multi‑system issues and consistently demonstrate technical expertise. 5–7 years of experience as a technician working on heavy‑duty trucks. Ability to perform inspections and repairs without supervision in some of the following systems: suspensions & steering, general engine, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, diesel emissions. ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T1–T8) are a plus but not required. LNG and/or CNG experience is a plus but not required. Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License is a plus but not required.
