Job Title- AI Engineer / Builder (coding + tooling)
Job Type-contract, Hybrid 4 days
Job Location-Springfield, IL
Key responsibilities:
• Build and iterate on internal tools, automations, and lightweight applications to support program delivery
• Rapidly prototype AI-enabled solutions (LLM-based agents, workflow automation, document processing, data extraction)
• Integrate with APIs and existing systems; set up and configure tooling for the team
• Translate non-technical requests into functioning tools with minimal spec
• Maintain, debug, and improve tools as needs evolve
Required skills:
• Strong coding ability (Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript); comfortable across the stack
• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs and agentic frameworks
• Experience with rapid prototyping and modern AI-assisted development tools
• Ability to work independently and ship fast in an ambiguous environment
• Data handling and scripting (APIs, JSON, basic ETL)
Nice to have: Experience in public sector or large enterprise; familiarity with SAP or ERP data; prior consulting/PMO tooling
